Wild West Days grand marshals will be military family kids
Zimmerman’s Wild West Days are a little over a month away and this year, the children of military service families will walk in the parade as the grand marshals.
“This was an idea proposed by the Zimmerman American Legion in partnership with the Zimmerman Civic Club,” Bill Potrament, president of the Zimmerman Civic Club, said, “to honor the children of military servicemen and -women and as a tribute to the sacrifices made by all military families who have given so much in order to secure our freedoms.” This includes children who have a service member in their extended family. All ages are welcome from all districts across the state. “We want as many people to join the grand marshals as possible,” vice president of the Zimmerman Civic Club, Karen Glunz, said, “so get involved and spread the word about Zimmerman’s Wild West Days celebration.”
Grand marshal participants are asked to join the parade wearing blue jeans/shorts and a white top at the Zimmerman High School at 10:30 a.m. on Parade Day, Saturday, May 26. The Zimmerman American Legion and Zimmerman Civic Club will provide red caps and a small American flag to the first 100 participants. Adults are expected to walk with young children.
