Terry Hadden twirled a two-hit shutout, and Brady Givens smacked a bases-loaded home run, as the unbeaten Elk River Elks thumped Anoka 10-0 there Wednesday.
Hadden, junior righthander, had seven strikeouts against two walks in the six-inning shutout.
“Terry was throwing all his pitches across the plate, fast ball, curve ball, and changeup,” said coach Ryan Holmgren, “so the hitters could not sit on any pitch. And our defense made no errors. That really helped him.”
Givens, junior second-baseman, got his grand slam with a shot over the right center fence about 350 feet away, turning a 6-0 lead to 10-0. Givens was 2-for-4 with three runs and five RBI.
The Elks had 12 hits, including two each from Porter Morrell, Brandon Meyer (three runs), Logan Paige (two RBI) and Sam Krick (two runs, RBI).
The Elks are 3-0, all in the NWSC. They’ll host Park Center on Thursday.
