The Zimmerman girls placed first among eight teams in an indoor meet at Foley on Saturday to open the season. The Thunder edged Princeton 87.5 to 87.0, with Mora third at 69.
Cassandra Ortberg won 55 hurdles (9.03) and 400 dash (1:04.45) with Bailey Bright fifth in the hurdles (10.35) and second in the 400 (1:08.20). Ortberg was also fourth in high jump (4-8) and Brooke Borchardt fifth (4-8).
Nicole Jurik took second in the 1600 (5:38.93). Megan Seymour was second in the triple jump (30-0) and fifth in long jump (13-0 1/4). In shot put, Amber Magnuson was third (34-11) and Abby Kratzke fifth (33-5).
The Thunder boys tied for fourth. Shot put was Zimmereman’s best event with Jake Antolak first (46-4), Nate Christensen fourth (40-10) and Dustin Neseth tied for fifth (40-0).
Travis Carr tied for second (17-7 1/2) and Storm Heyer fourth (17-7) in the long jump. Jacob Kraabel fifth in the 400 (59.25).
