Basketball: Royals’ Schreiber named Mississippi 8 basketball MVP
Rogers center Michael Schreiber was named Most Valuable Player in the Mississippi 8 Conference for basketball, announced coach Joe Belka.
The 6-foot-8 Schreiber averaged 19.6 points in conference games, leading the Royals to a share of the championship with St. Michael-Albertville, the first conference title for Rogers (19-9 overall).
A Northern State recruit and a Minnesota senior all-star series pick, Schreiber averaged 19.4 points and 8.9 rebounds overall, and shot a blazing 65 percent. He was a three-year starter, all-conference twice, and scored 1,058 points.
