Benefit for Paula (Lloyd) Sweet

Family and friends are hosting a benefit from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 14 at the Elk River American Legion to raise money for the family of Paula (Lloyd) Sweet for expenses not covered by insurance, co-pays for doctor visits and medication.
On February 2, 2012, Paula had a brain aneurysm that burst, causing a seizure and bleeding stroke. After 6 hours of surgery, ten days in Neuro ICU, four days in the stroke unit at Abbott Northwestern Hospital and five days at Sister Kenny Rehab, Paula returned home earlier than anticipated.
She still has a long way to full recovery and will likely not be able to work for one to two years and may never be able to return to driving school bus.
Planned activities of the event include a Sloppy Joe plate, silent auction, bake sale and live music.
Anyone wishing to help with the benefit by donating silent auction or bake sale items or a cash donation can contact Carol or Tom at 763-441-3926 or Linda at 763-438-5090.
