Food preservation workshops planned
Two workshops related to food preservation are coming up at Cabela’s in Rogers.
•“Making and Marketing Jams and Jellies” is a workshop for those interested in selling home-produced jams and jellies at farmers markets or community events. The workshop will address producing a quality product, home processing and equipment, food safety from harvest to process, operational guidelines for the sale of jams and jellies in Minnesota, and labeling and documentation.
The workshop will be held from 1-4:30 p.m. March 29. Registration fee is $25.
•“Peddling Your Pickles Safely?” is a workshop for those interested in learning about the requirements of the Minnesota “Pickle Bill” legislation. The workshop will be held from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. April 19. It will address food safety from harvest to process, acid levels of produce and pH testing, operational guidelines for the sale of pickled products in Minnesota, labeling, home processing and equipment and kitchen sanitation. Registration fee is $40.
Both workshops will be conducted by University of Minnesota Extension educators in food safety.
