Lois (Thompson) Hetrick, 87, of Elk River, died peacefully Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at home.
Lois grew up in Hutchinson and graduated in 1942 from Hutchinson High School. She was a 1946 graduate of St. Olaf College with a degree in social work. Lois accepted a job as a social worker for Sherburne County in 1946. She came out of retirement at age 65 to work as a county guardian ad litem until her final retirement at age 78.
She married Jay Hetrick on May 15, 1948. According to her family, “She was the perfect wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all of us.”
Lois and Jay were early members of Central Lutheran Church, becoming members in the late 1940’s. Church was huge part of their life.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, March 24 from 1 to 4:30 p.m. at Central Lutheran Church in Elk River.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Jay; daughter, Vicci; sons, Dave (Patti), Dick (Kathy) Kopetka and Frank (Cindy) Kopetka; stepdaughter, Karen (Sam) Davis; stepson, Dean Hetrick; 9 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. A.J. Thompson; and brother, John Thompson.
