Stems and Steins: A Chocolate Affair to raise money for Y Partners
by Jim Boyle
The Elk River YMCA will host a wine and beer tasting event from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23 at the Friendly Buffalo in Big Lake.
Stems and Steins: “A Chocolate Affair” will be part of the YMCA’s annual Y Partners fund-raising campaign. The goal for 2012 is to raise $68,000 over the course of the campaign.
The Feb. 23 event will give the campaign a shot in the arm and offer the community a night of fun and relaxation.
There will be chocolate fountains, appetizers, a live band, a silent auction and a choice of a wine or beer glass to sample wine and beer.
Tickets for the second annual fundraiser are $30 a person and can be purchased at the YMCA or by calling Lori at 763-230-2816 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
100 percent of the money raised in the Y Partners campaign stays in the community to help local people of all ages and backgrounds.
Last year the YMCA raised $65,000 locally and with the help of The YMCA of the Greater Twin Cities General Board it was able to offer almost $400,000 worth of programs and services that helped youth, adults and seniors become healthier, happier and more confident members of our community.
The YMCA organization is dedicated to building healthy confident, connected and secure people where we all work, live and play.
“Our impact is felt every day when an individual makes a healthy choice, when a caring adult inspires a child, and when a community like ours comes together to support the common good,” said Molly Hanson, the executive director of the Elk River YMCA.
