Hockey: Rogers tops STMA 4-2, finishes Miss. 8 unbeaten with 3rd title in row

The Rogers Royals boys wrapped up their third straight Mississippi 8 hockey crown with a 4-2 conquest of St. Michael-Albertville on Thursday evening.

The Royals have 22 straight M8 wins and closed the regular season 9-0 in conference and 18-6-1 overall.
Scoring goals at STMA were Bryan Jungles (shorthanded), Parker Veith (power play), Nate Weber and Zach Hnath.

Caleb LeClaire made two assists, and goalie Keaton Mumm made 31 saves.

The Royals are seeded No. 2 behind Hermantown in Section 5A and will host  Legacy Christian or North Branch on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Rogers has enjoyed excellent balanced scoring. At the end of the regular season, Zach Hnath has 22 goals and 24 assists for 46 points, with Neal Smith at 20-25-45, Andrew Smith 15-27-42, and Nate Weber 16-22-38.
