District 728 issues statement on Tony Sarsland

Tony Sarsland is the Head Coach of the Elk River High School Boys Hockey Team. The District received complaints against Mr. Sarsland, so an investigation of the complaints was initiated by the District. The District placed Mr. Sarsland on paid administrative leave from his classroom teaching and coaching responsibilities on Friday, February 10, 2012, in accordance with standard District protocols. Mr. Sarsland returned to his classroom teaching responsibilities on Monday, February 13, 2012, but remains on a paid administrative leave from his coaching responsibilities. An interim Head Coach has been appointed by the District. The District is continuing its investigation of the complaints against Mr. Sarsland.

The District wishes to protect the integrity of its investigation and comply with the requirements of the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act; therefore, the District is unable at this time to share any specific information regarding the nature of the complaints against Mr. Sarsland until the District has completed its investigation and the matter has reached final resolution.
