Byrle Edward Bardell, 90, of Albertville, formerly of Elk River, died at his home Wednesday Feb. 15, 2012.
He was born July 26, 1921, in Monango, N.D. to Walter W. and Olive L. (Young) Bardell. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1940 to 1945. On Nov. 1, 1945, he married Mary Louise Faxon.
For many years he was employed as a machine tool grinder at World Aerospace of Minneapolis. He loved golf, fishing and downhill skiing and was an avid reader. He was also active in the Living Waters Church of Elk River, where he had served as an elder.
Visitation will be today (Saturday, Feb. 18) from 1 to 2 p.m. at Living Waters Church, 21246 Meadowvale Road N.W., Elk River. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with the Revs. David Weigel and Robert Pullar officiating. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012. Funeral arrangements are with the Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel of Monticello.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; son, Walter L. (Cary) of Monticello; daughter, Barbara A. (James) Evenson of Annandale; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sister, Geraldine Baldwin.
Mr. Bardell was preceded in death by his brothers, Coral, Vern “Bud” and Merton.
