The Sherburne County Drug Task Force arrested Lashun Witherspoon Jr., 19, of Elk River on Tuesday for first-degree possession of cocaine and third-degree possession of heroin after a Feb. 7 raid of an Elk River home.
According to Sheriff Joel Brott, the Sherburne County Drug Task Force (DTF) had conducted an investigation into suspected drug activity at 18026 Vance Circle in Elk River. That allowed investigators to obtain a search warrant for the residence.
At approximately 7 a.m. on Feb. 7 members of the Sherburne County DTF, the Elk River Police Department Swat Team and the Elk River Police Department executed that search warrant.
During the search, investigators found approximately one ounce of cocaine, over four grams of heroin and over 100 grams of marijuana, all of which had a street value of several thousand dollars.
While conducting the search, investigators allegedly observed Witherspoon throw something onto the roof of the garage below, which was among the drugs found.
The task force also arrested Jameela Wright, a 22-year-old Elk River woman, for fifth-degree possession of marijuana and Jessica Gabrielson, a 27-year-old Minneapolis woman, for fifth-degree possession of marijuana. The three were charged Feb. 8 in Sherburne County District Court.
Motorist strikes Elk River Perkins restaurant
A motorist, who says his foot fell off the brake and onto the gas pedal, struck the Elk River Perkins on the morning of Feb. 6.
Police were called to the scene about 6:22 a.m. and discovered the vehicle went up and over a curb, crossed a 15-foot patch of grass and then struck the building. Tire and acceleration marks were found on the cement sidewalk and grass.
DWI written after man crossed RR red
A Buffalo man, 25, was arrested shortly after midnight Feb. 5 for DWI after he was observed travelling though a red light in the southbound direction of travel on Jackson Avenue in Elk River.
Graffiti found on Industrial Boulevard
A report was made to police on Feb. 1 that graffiti was painted on a building in the 19100 block of Industrial Boulevard in Elk River. The incident had occurred over the weekend.
DWI issued after red light violation on RR
A Buffalo woman, 29, was arrested shortly after midnight on Feb. 5 for DWI after she was observed crossing the railroad tracks on Jackson Avenue in Elk River on a red light before turning to go west on Highway 10.
Officers can’t find source of fireworks
Elk River officers heard aerial fireworks going off shortly after midnight on Feb. 5 in the 1200 block of Main Street, but they were unable to locate the source, Police Capt. Bob Kluntz said.
Deputy takes report of paintball mayhem
A 57-year-old Elk River man reported on the afternoon of Feb. 4 that his residence was hit with paintballs, and a window was damaged during the incident. A Sherburne County deputy responded, because Elk River police officers were tied up on other calls.
The deputy observed green paint on the window that was damaged and what appeared to be 12 shots from a paint ball gun. It is believed that the incident was a random act. Elk River police were going to follow up.
Homemade trailer stolen from man
An Elk River man reported on Feb. 1 the theft of a 6-by-10-foot homemade-style iron trailer from the 500 block of Dodge Avenue. The trailer had 4-foot plywood sides and a 5-foot fold-down steel mesh ramp to the rear.
