Basketball: Blaine, Elks go OT again, this time Bengals win 75-70

Tanner Scumacher pumped in 28 points as the Blaine Bengals outlasted the Elk River Elks 75-70 in overtime on Friday evening in Blaine.

Blaine outscored the Elks 9-5 in overtime, avenging an earlier 83-72 loss to the Elks that was also an overtime game.

Schumacher, a senior guard, made 9 of 11 free shots. Blaine made 20 of 30 while the Elks faltered at the stripe, making just 13 of 27.

Soph center Clay Elrod scored 24 points and junior guard Porter Morrell 18 for the Elks, who shot well from the field, 25-for-46. Senior guard Ryan Ness notched 8 points and 8 assists.

Josh Lindberg added 22 for Blaine (8-7 conference, 12-8 overall).

Osseo now has a three-game lead in the NWSC with a 14-1 record. The Elks and Champlin Park are each 10-4 in second place.

The Elks (12-8 overall) will host Anoka on Tuesday.
