The Rogers Royals opened sectionals with any easy one, beating St. Louis Park 7-0, on Thursday evening, but nothing’s easy from now on.
“All four teams left are ranked in the top ten,” noted Rogers coach Scott Childers grimly. His team faces No.1 ranked Breck.
No. 9 ranked Rogers (15-9-2) takes on Breck (22-2-1) on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at Parade Stadium, followed by No. 5 Orono (20-4-1) vs. No. 6 Blake (14-11-1).
“I watched Breck play Minnetonka last Tuesday,” said Childers. “They played Minnetonka, ranked fourth in double-A, and beat them 2-1. So they really are a fine team.
“it will take a great effort. But I think we have the kind of team that can get an upset. We’ve got goaltending, good team defense, and a scorer.”
Rogers freshman Emily Antony pumped in four goals against St. Louis Park (3-22-1), giving her 33 for the season. Madison Lehn, Kelsey Johnston and Makenzie Perna also scored and Becca Leshovsky made 13 saves.
