Wrestling: Rogers 1-2 at Royal Rumble

The Rogers wrestlers won their first-round match, then lost twice, in their Royal Rumble dual meet tournament Saturday.

Phillip Anderson, Kyler Swanson and Clay LeVasseur were all 3-0 for the day. Anderson had two pins, giving him 21 for the season, breaking Todd Klemz’s team record of 20. LeVasseur (14-0) beat No. 3 ranked Will Van Sant of Mound-Westonka.
Holdingford was the champion, beating Mound-Westonka 45-15 in the finals.

Rogers beat Minnehaha Academy/DeLaSalle 60-9, lost to Mound-Westonka 48-22, and lost to Maccray/Renville County West 42-32.

Down the Rogers lineup, Tim Beach was 2-1 (2 pins), Kyle Ysteboe 1-2 (pin), Jordan Bond 1-0 (pin), Anderson 3-0 (2 pins, major decision), Tim Beach 2-0 (2 pins), Kyler Swanson 3-0 (fall, tech fall), Michael Voorhees 2-1 (pin), Tyler Eicher 1-1, Jordan Lemcke 1-2 (pin), Jake Owens 2-1 (pin), Ryan Lien 0-3, LeVasseur 3-0, Jake Pavloff 1-2, Peder Oakland 0-3.

The Zimmerman Thunder lost to Mound-Westonka 60-22,  beat Minnehaha Academy/DeLaDalle 30-18, and lost to St. Paul Johnson 50-9.

Rogers (7-11) has a meet at Monticello on Thursday. Zimmerman (3-15) will take on Elk River and Park Center on Thursday in Elk River.
