Hockey: Royal boys score 4 in first, beat Proctor 7-1
Four goals in the first 12 minutes got the Rogers Royals started on a 7-1 win over the Proctor Rails on Saturday in Proctor.
Nate Weber, Andrew Smith, and Neal Smith scored for a 3-0 lead with the latter two on power plays as Rogers (15-5-1) was 2-for-4 in the game.
Ian Ecklund scored for Proctor (8-14) on a power play but Kyle Kovar countered for Rogers before the period ended with Rogers up 4-1.
Rogers pumped in thee more goals in the second period, by Andew Smith, David Miller and Brandon Spah.
Rogers goalie Robby Vukelich stopped 16 of 17 shots. Rogers launched 38 shots against two Rail goalies.
Rogers will play at Rochester Lourdes on Thursday.
