Elk River fell behind 3-0 quickly but scrambled back for a 4-3 overtime win over Champlin Park on Saturday with Wyatt Ege delivering the game-winner.
Ege, a junior defenseman, scored 10:15 into the overtme, with Jake Jaremko and Mitch Kierstad assisting. It was Ege’s third goal of the season.
Champlin Park (6-9 conference, 8-12 overall) scored three times in the first 12:04 with Zach Turgeon, Carl Ness and Luke Dalman beating Elk goalie Anders Franke.
The Elks (9-5-1 conference, 12-8-2 overall) had Mitch Kierstad scoring with just 13 seconds left in the period, Cooper Bleyhl and Ege assisting.
The Ellks scored twice late in the second period to tie it up. Kierstad tallied a power play gal at 15:52, assists by Colton Budreau and Austin Larson, and by Nick McCormack at 16:51, assisted by Peter Jones.
Next Elk game is at home vs. Maple Grove next Saturday 7 p.m.
