Dance team: ERDT hosts sectonals, bows out with 5th, 8th places

Elk River Dance Team’s season ended Saturday with fifth- and eighth-place finishes in the Section 4AAA meet at the ERHS gymnasium.

The ERDT placed fifth in high-kick among 12 teams and eighth in jazz. Under first-year head coach Alyssa Sha, the ERDT placed fifth in the conference before finishing up at home with performances that were solid but not good enough.

Brainerd, St. Cloud Tech and Blaine were the big winners, each advancing to state in both dances.

Brainerd, an eight-time state champion in kick, won that event with a Hollywood-style performance in pink and black, followed by Tech and Blaine..

Tech won jazz with a “Stairway to Heaven” theme, followed by Blaine and Brainerd.

Blaine's Bengalettes advanced to state in both dances.

St. Cloud Tech placed second with their military-themed high kick and were first in jazz.
