Hockey: Royal boys top Bison 5-2, Jungles drills four goals
Bryan Jungles rattled off four goals as the Rogers Royals turned back the Buffalo Bison 5-2 on Thursday evening, their 20th straight conference win.
Jungles, senior forward, scored twice the first period, including a power play. The period ended 2-2 as Jack Beckaff and Cale Ehresman scored for Buffalo.
The second period was scoreless, and the Royals finally shook off the Bison in the third period with two more goals by Jungles sandwiched around one by Zach Hnath.
Rogers outshot Buffalo 38-21. Keaton Mumm in goal got the win with 19 saves for Rogers. Blake Schmidt had 34 for Buffalo.
The Royals, seeking their fourth straight Mississippi 8 title, are 7-0 this year in conference and 14-5-1 overall. Buffalo is 3-4 and 6-12.
Jungles, who assisted on the Hnath goal, boosted his totals to 15 goals and 16 assists for the season. Hnath has 18 goals and Andrew Smith 11.
