Hockey: Elks girls score late, beat Blaine 2-0

Elk River-Zimmerman wrapped up second place in the conference beating the Blaine Bengals 2-0 at Blaine on Tuesday evening.

The duel was scoreless until the last eight minutes. Abby Kratzke got the Elks on the board with 7:32 left, assisted by Josie Brown and Kaylee Forster.  Chelsey Petrich added a clincher with 1:29 left, Jonna Curtiis assisting.

Elk backup goalie Kim Scott made 21 saves in the shutout, while Tora Hoverstad stopped 24 of 26 for Blaine (9-7-1 conference, 13-9-3 overall).

The Elks (18-3-2 overall) are 13-2-2 in conference with one game left, at home against Centennial on Saturday at 7 p.m. Anoka has clinched the title with a 14-1-2 mark.
