Basketball: Royal boys thump Bluejackets 73-50

The Rogers Royals were strong on the inside as they defeated Cambridge-Isantii 73-50 on Tuesday evening.

Senior post Michael Schreiber led with 23 points and 9 rebounds, and shot 8-for-13. The Royals were 20-for-36 inside the arc, and 5-for-16 on threes, while outrebounding the Bluejackets 31-24.

Gunnar Blom scored 11 points off the bench, Josh Turnquist also scored 11 points. Garrett Hol made 7 steals while scoring 6 points. Tanner Barbeln had 9 points and Nick Runge 7.

Judah Poppen and Tom Selz scored 12 apiece for Cambridge-Isanti. Poppen made four 3-pointers as the Bluejackets were 10-for-31 outside the arc.

The Royals are 4-2 in conference and 11-6 overall, while the Bluejackets fell to 0-6 and 2-16.

Rogers will play at St. Cloud Apollo on Friday.
