Auto racing: Rogers’ List gets regional open-wheel title
Race car driver Andrew List of Rogers, who gave up fenders in 2011 to race an open wheel Formula Continental, received a regional award at a Jan. 6 banquet for the Land O Lakes Region.
The Minnesota State-Mankato freshman was named Central Division Formula Continental Regional Champion for a division including all or part of Minnesota, Iowa, North and South Dakota, Wisconsin and Illinois.
List has raced for nine years. After starting out in karting, he advanced to SCCA racing last year and won the 2010 C-Sports Racing title in a 2002 Radical.
In 2011 he moved to an open wheel 1997 Van Diemen Formula Continental that reaches speeds of 145 mph on tracks such as Brainerd International Raceway and Road America. During the 13 race series, List captured four wins and four additional podium finishes.
“I have a passion for racing and for learning. and I’m very excited to finish well for our team,” said List. He added: “There is intense competition between the Formula Continental drivers which has accelerated my development as a driver.”
List, aiming toward a career in sports marketing, will compete in the SCCA National Championship Series in 2012. He recently received his FIA professional license and hopes to participate in a few professional races as well.
