Hockey: Royal girls fall to Cambridge-Isanti 4-2
The Rogers Royals lost to Cambridge-Isanti 4-2 on Friday evening as they continue to struggle against conference rivals while playing much better outside the conference.
Emily Antony opened the scoring for Rogers at 3:43 of the first period but the Bluejackets knocked in three of their own before the period ended, Katie McCann at 8:48, Kaity Rip at 11:55 and Alex Nelson at 13:43.
The Bluejackets stayed hot early in the second with Taylor Bowker connecting at 1:11.
Rogers outshot the hostsĀ 28-23 but got just one more goal, by Kaitlyn Braiedy at 3:26 of the third.
Becca Leshovsky was in goal for the Royals, while A.J. Smith got the win for the Bluejackets.
Rogers is 12-9-2 overall with three wins over ranked teams, but 1-6-0 in the Mississippi 8, including two losses to the Bluejackets, who are 8-11-1 overall and 3-3-1 in conference.
Rogers will play at Orono on Tuesday.
