Roger G. Hansen, 72
Roger G. Hansen, 72, of Elk River, died quietly at home Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, surrounded by his wife and two children.
He was born to Gust and Helen Hansen in Princeton in the family farmhouse in 1940. Mr. Hansen served in the Army National Guard for two years. He and Bette Jean Reiman were married in July 1960. Mr. Hansen worked for International Paper Company for over 25 years, then became the facilities manager for Elk River School District 728 for 22 years, during which time he married his wife, Ronay.
After retiring in 2005, the couple made their home in Yuma, Ariz. during the winter and spent the summer on the river fishing, or simply enjoying the eagles, swans and other birds from the porch of their home on the Mississippi.
The funeral service was Friday, Jan. 27 at Dare’s Funeral Home of Elk River. Interment was at Oak Knoll Cemetery, Princeton.
Mr. Hansen is survived by his wife, Ronay; children, Corey (Kim) of Coon Rapids and Jody Horning (Jerry) of Albertville; step-daughters, Lisa LeFavor of Maple Grove and Tina Heidelberger (Matt Wilcox) of Minnetonka; six grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth (Janice) and Russell (Judy); sisters, Marlene Nelson and Gayle (Dwight) Barth; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Darcy.
