Nowthen Lions prepare for annual ice fishing contest

The Nowthen Lions Club is gearing up to host its third annual ice fishing contest.

The event is set for Saturday, Feb. 4 on East Twin Lake in Nowthen.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. with the ice fishing contest starting at 11 a.m.

Final weigh-in is set for 2 p.m.

Cash prizes ($250, $100 and $50) will be given for the three largest fish caught.

Door prizes will also be awarded throughout the event. Kids’ prizes will also be given.

A same-day raffle will be held and hot food and drinks will be available.

Tickets are $10 per hole and are available pre-sale and on the lake the day of the contest. A limited number of tickets will be available.

Portable ice houses, coolers and glass containers are not allowed. A complete set of rules will be available at the weigh-in table.

Parking signs will direct those at East Twin Lake Park. Special assistance will be available for those in need.
