Hockey: Royal boys top SLP 5-1 with quick 4-goal burst

The Rogers Royals pumped in four goals in three and half minutes during the first period and coasted to a 5-1 win over Spring Lake Park at home Saturday evening.

Andrew Smith scored at 4:59, Bryan Jungels at 5:37, Neal Smith on a power play at 8:00, and Travis Brown at 8:23, as the Royals outshot the Panthers 14-1 in the first period.

Spencer Marchand made it 5-2 on the power play at 7:36 of the second.

Rogers (11-5) outshot SLP (4-11-1) by 46-23 with Robby Vukelich in goal for the Royals and Brandon Jones for the Panthers.

Jake Mathyss got SLP on the board  at 10:01 of the third, on a power play.

Getting assists for Rogers were Neal Smith, Nate Weber, Brandon Spah, Zach Hnath, and Brown.

The Royals will play at St. Francis on Tuesday evening.
