A half-court buzzer-beater by Emily Reichert was the highlight as the Rogers Royals beat the Big Lake Hornets 70-42 on Thursday evening in Big Lake.
Reichert, senior guard who led with 17 points, hit her long 3-pointer to cap a 28-17 first half by the Royals, who were shooting well from the perimeter.
The Royals built on the momentum heading in the second half as they hit from both inside and outside to rack up their high-point total of the year. Jordyn Motter added 14 points and Courtney McClay 12.
“Our girls did a nice job both offensively and defensively in a solid team effort,” said coach Jeremy Digiovanni. “We were able to hit some big shots early in the game to get some confidence going and played very well defensively most of the night.”
The Royals are 3-2 in the Mississippi 8 and 8-8 overall, heading into a game at Bemidji on Saturday, 2:30 p.m., against a Section 8AAAA opponent.
Big Lake is 0-5 in conference and 4-11 overall.
