Basketball: Rebels pull away from Elk girls 60-50

The Champlin Park Rebels fended off an upset bid by the Elk River Elks 60-50 on Tuesday evening at ERHS.

The Elks led 49-48 at one point but the Rebels went ahead on a 3-point shot and put the game away hitting nine of 10 free throws in the last 90 seconds.

Alexis Alexander netted 19 points for the Rebels (7-3 conference, 9-6 overall) and Sarah Serie added 11.

Elk River (1-9 conference, 5-10 overall) got 17 points from soph guard Shelby Gracik and 14 from senior center Victoria Jenson. Jordyn Sohns, junior guard, added nine.

The Elks will play at Maple Grove on Friday evening.
