Swimming: Elks vanquish Andover

Elk River-Rogers-Zimmerman-Spectrum posted a 101-82 victory over Andover on Thursday evening in Andover, improving to 4-1 in conference duals.

“Andover is a much improved team,” reflected coach Denise Eidem. “We had lots of close races tonight, starting with a close finish the first relay.”

The Elks won that 200 medley relay and wound up placing first in eight of 12 events.  Aaron Schwab won IM and backstroke, Collin Krueger took the 50 and 100 sprints, Andrew Bronshteyn won diving, Jacob Christy took the 200 free, and the closing 400 relay won.

Eidem cited Nick Kopp for strong 200 IM and backstroke races, noted several boys had their best times of the year: Trevor Springer   in the butterfly and breaststroke, Owen Musgjerd in breaststroke, and Spencer Hlavachek in butterfly.

The Elks will likely meet Andover again in the conference third place match in two weeks.

They will host Section 8AA true team on Saturday at 3 p.m.
