Basketball: Rogers girls start strong, beat Monticello 58-44
The Rogers Royals sparkled in the first half and coasted to a 58-44 win over the Monticello Magic on Tuesday evening.
“We played as well as we have all year in the first half,” said coach Jeremy Digiovanni about his team’s 40-23 lead at the break, “especially with our execution and knocking down open shots.”
Monticello opened the second half with a 9-0 run but Rogers stayed comfortably in front with some good shooting including at the line, where they finished 14-for-18.
Three Royals netted 13 points each — Kelsey Fraine, Jordyn Motter, and Lindsay Dorr, with Dorr also snagging 10 rebounds.
Rogers is 2-1 in conference and 7-6 overall while Monticello drops to 1-3 and 6-6.
The Royals now have four straight road games, starting with Mounds View on Thursday.
