Basketball: Andover runs away from Elk girls 60-34

The Elk River girls hung with the Andover Huskies for a little while but wound up with a 60-34 defeat at home on Tuesday evening.
Andover led 21-18 before springing loose some turnovers and scoring the last 12 points of the half for a 33-18 lead, then dominated the second half.
“Our conference has a lot of good athletes in it,” said Elk coach Reed Caouette, whose team in 1-7 in the NWSC and 4-2 outside the conference. “We started out doing some good things, but all of a sudden the floodgates opened.”
Tommaneka Wallace sank 13 points and Haydin Becker 12 to lead the Huskies (4-5 conference, 7-7 overall).
Shelby Gracik led the Elks with 11 points. Victoria Jenson was next with seven.
The Elks will play at Park Center on Thursday.
