Wrestling: Caldon is lone Elk champ at Cambridge meet

The Elk River wrestlers had one champion, Evan Caldon, and a runner-up, Mitch Beaudry, at the Cambridge-Isanti Invitational on Saturday.

Caldon (16-4) nabbed the 126-pound title with a pin in 1:58 over Blake Carlisle of Prior Lake in the finals. He advanced with  a bye and a 2-0 decision over Ben Hartnett of C-I.

Beaudry (13-6) reached the 195-pound finals wit ha pin over Simley’s Jake Ihrke and 7-6 decision over C-I’s Trent Chromy. He was then pinned by Casey Beiver of Brainerd in 4:28.

Placing fourth were Kyle Weimann (14-5) at 285 and Ryan Osberg (7-8) at 145.

The Elks had six other entries who did not place, and had no varsity entry at four weights.

Next is a non-conference dual at St. Michael-Albertville on Thursday.
