District 728 Triple-A nominees named

District 728 schools have announced their nominations for Triple-A awards, an MSHSL program that recognizes  seniors for excellence in arts, academics and athletics. Sectional winners and overall state winners will be named for both Class A and AA.

Jayde Krauth

Jayde Krauth, Elk River
Krauth has made all-conference both athletically as a volleyball spiker and musically as a trumpet player, and has a 3.93 GPA. She’s in  concert band, jazz band and orchestra pit, while also playing piano and saxophone. She’ll attend the University of Minnesota with a double major in Global Relations and Mass Communications, and minor in music.

Adam Watzke, Elk River

Watzke plays forward on the Elks hockey team, and excels in  ceramic arts; at left is his award-winning tea pot and cups set. His GPA is 3.856. Watzke is leaning toward engineering or the art fiield. He is undecided on which college to attend.



Maddie Schaeffer

Maddie Schaeffer, Rogers
Schaeffer is an all-conference setter in volleyball, and holds the school pole vault record while also running sprints and hurdles in track.  She’s been in one-act plays, choir, and band (percussion) and has sung the anthem before volleyball games (above). Her 4.070 GPA ranks No. 2 in her class. She plans to attend UM-Duluth, major in biology and participate in track. She wants to be a doctor.

Jack Anderson, Rogers

Jack Anderson

Anderson has a 4.010 GPA and plays point guard on the basketball team. He’s a frequent participant in plays at his church. As for his future, he is undecided on a major and a college, currently looking at St. Olaf and University of Denver.





Jake Antolak, Zimmerman

Jake Antolak

Antolak is an athletic standout as a lineman in football (conference co-MVP) and a thrower in track. He plays trumpet in band groups, and has a 3.9 GPA. He plans to play college football and eventually teach and coach. He has not picked a college yet.




Anna Huss

Anna Huss, Zimmerman
Huss has a 3.963 grade-point-average. She plays French Horn in the wind symphony, and plays violin outside of school. She is a speech team member. In sports, Huss is a diver on the swim team and jumper on the track team. She was in club gymnastics previously.
