Basketball: Elrod, Elks top Anoka 68-53

Clay Elrod led with 24 points as the Elk River Elks beat the Anoka Tornadoes 68-53 on Tuesday evening in Anoka.

The Elks (5-4) led 40-18 at halftime as they improved to 3-1 in the NWSC.

Elrod, 6-5 sophomore center, had scored in double digits all nine games, and leads the Elks with 16.2 points per game.

Guard Tucker Morrell added 12 points, and guard Ryan Ness and forward Bryan Edwards 10 each.

Ryan Rand tallied 12 points, Malcolm Seals 11 and Tony Pederson 10 for the Tornadoes (2-3 conference, 3-6 overall).

The Elks play at Blaine on Friday.
