Hockey: Eden Prairie thumps Elk boys 4-0

The Eden Prairie Eagles thumped Elk River/Zimmerman 4-0 in the second of three early-season meetings with the Elks, Friday at the St. Louis Park tournament.

The same two teams tied 3-3 at the Edina Holiday Classic before Christmas, but No. 6 ranked Eden Prairie dominated the No. 12 ranked Elks in the SLP fifth-place game, outshooting them 37-15.

They will duel again Jan. 5 at Eden Prairie in a regularly scheduled game.

Chad Dahlgren, Andrew Knutson Masa Bergh and Steven Spinner scored for the Eagles (7-1-2), who were in the consolation round because they tied Moorhead and lost a shootout for advancement.

Goalies were Anders Franke for the Elks and Derick LaCombe for the Eagles.

ERZ finished the 2011 portion of the schedule 7-4-1.
