The Rogers girls finished 1-1-1 in the Armstrong Invitational after dueling two ranked teams and one struggling team at New Hope Arena.
“We had a good tournament. We played a couple of strong teams,” said coach Scott Childers.
The Royals (9-4-2) opened with a 3-3 tie against No. 8 ranked Red Wing (10-3-1) on Tuesday with goalie Michelle Klimstra making 50 saves. After a scoreless overtime, the Wingers won a shootout 2-1 to earn advancement. Rallying from a 2-0 deficit, the Royals got goals from Emily Antony, Madison Lehn and Alicia Nelson. Red Wing (10-3-1) outshot the Royals 53-27 with Cory Fairbanks, Reagan Haley and Erin Steger scoring.
The Royals lost 3-2 in overtime to No. 10 ranked Mankato East/Loyola (11-2) on Wednesday. Antony had both goals, both in the second period. Becca Leshovsky was the goalie.
Kaitlyn Braiedy notched both goals as the Royals closed with a 2-0 win over Woodbury (1-12-1) on Thursday with Klimstra in the nets.
