Red light runner tagged during morning rush
A 31-year-old Litchfield man was cited for disobeying a semaphore at 5:17 a.m. on Dec. 19 after an officer observed the motorist go through a red light at the intersection of Highway 10 and Main Street.
Zimmerman girl, 17, cited for marijuana
A 17-year-old Zimmerman girl was taken into custody after an officer observed what he believed to be marijuana in plain view inside her vehicle while in the parking lot at 11755 191 1/2 Ave.
The officer made contact with the juvenile driver and a search revealed additional controlled substances. The girl was arrested and a transport to the juvenile detention center in Lino Lakes was arranged.
Icy roadway wreaks havoc with motorist
A 22-year-old Elk River woman lost control of her vehicle in the 10800 block of 205th Avenue on the evening of Dec. 18 due to icy road conditions.
The vehicle rolled 1.5 times, but the driver got out of the vehicle on her own and was unhurt.
The (fraudulent) check was in the mail
A 21-year old Elk River man received an e-mail notifying him that he would be receiving a check in the mail.
The check arrived with instructions to go to the bank, cash it and then wire the funds.
The bank notified the man that it was a scam, and he contacted the police on Dec. 18.
The man did not suffer any financial loss.
Princeton woman, 31, arrested for DWI
A 31-year-old Princeton woman was arrested for DWI shortly before 2 a.m. on Dec. 18 after she was stopped in the 19500 block of Highway 169.
The motorist had crossed both the fog line and center line, and repeatedly weaved within the lane while travelling northbound. The driver was arrested for fourth degree DWI.
Ramsey man says he fell asleep at the wheel
A 23-year-old Ramsey man told police he believes he fell asleep, lost control of his vehicle and struck a light pole about 1:30 a.m. on Dec. 18 in the 500 block of Freeport Avenue.
The vehicle’s airbags were deployed and the man was not injured.
Driving in circles doesn’t lead to charges
An 18-year-old Elk River man was reportedly driving his vehicle in circles near 194th Street and Zane Avenue.
Officers located the man at his residence, where he stated he was test driving his vehicle due to transmission issues. The driver was valid, clear and sober, so there was no further action taken.
Brush fire got out of hand for resident
Officers responded to a large grass fire on the night of Dec. 17 in the 22100 block of Quinn Street.
The homeowner, a 30- year-old Elk River man, was burning brush and lumber. He stated the fire had gotten larger than expected.
The Elk River Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire. The homeowner did not have a burn permit.
Loud exhaust system results in citation
A 25-year-old Zimmerman man was cited for loud, crackling exhaust after he was stopped by officers in the area of School Street and Proctor Avenue at 9:30 p.m. on Dec. 17.
The driver stated he had previous warnings for equipment violations, and he knew it needed to be fixed.
He was cited for exhaust system, which is equipped with glass packs, and warned about taillight covers.
