The Elk River Elks picked up their first win, 52-48 over Coon Rapids, on Friday evening.
The Elks (1-5) had remarkable scoring balance as Jordyn Sohns sank 10 points, Dani Detloff nine, Dani Edwards eight, Mikayla Macomber seven, Victoria Jenson and Anna Rollag six each, Holly Skalsky five and Michelle Botts one.
The Elks trailed by as much as eight in the second half. Sparking the rally was steals turned into baskets by Sohns, Detloff, and Rollag.
Jesse Owens had 10 for Coon Rapids, with Elizabeth Storrick and Courtney Pasiowitz adding eight each.
The Elks shot 15-for-65 overall, 4-for-16 on three’s, and 6-for-8 on free shots.
The Cardinals, coming off a 64-60 upset of No. 2 ranked Osseo on Dec. 8, dropped to 1-3.
Elk River will play at Rogers on Saturday, 7 p.m.
