Basketball: Thunder boys lose conference debut to Little Falls 105-85

Zimmerman’s basketball debut in the new Granite Ridge Conference was a memorable but not successful one.

With both teams scoring like a pinball machine, the Little Falls Flyers beat the Thunder 105-85 in Zimmerman on Tuesday evening.

The Flyers (2-1) had six double-figure players led by center Matt Valentine with 26 points. Next were Grant Bell with 16 and Josh Wenzel with 15. They sank 10 three-pointers.

Senior post Nate Christensen led Zimmerman (1-2) with 21 points. Kyle Connell and Gavin Doppler scored 13 points each, Jake Wilson 11, Corey Foyt 10 and Caleb Lunning nine.

The Thunder will play at the Target Center on Friday against Farmington at 7 p.m.
