Basketball: Elk boys lose to No. 3 Osseo, 70-42

The Osseo Orioles, ranked No. 3 in the state, made shambles of Elk River’s unbeaten slate with a 70-42 conquest of the Elks on Tuesday evening in Osseo.

Tall, athletic, and clicking in all phases of the game, the Orioles (3-0) spread the scoring around, led by Michael Brush with 13, Bridge Tusler with 12, D.H. Herbert with 10 and Ian Theisen with nine.

The Elks (2-1) trailed just 34-26 at the half, but Osseo scored the first 16 points of the second half, a burst launched by two 3-pointers.

Leading the Elk scoring was Clay Elrod with 10 points.

Elk River was 9-for-13 and the Orioles 6-for-8 on free shots.

The Elks will host Coon Rapids on Thursday.
