Basketball: Rogers boys outlast Anoka 76-69
Powered by Michael Schreiber in the first half and Chase Cleveland in the second half, the Rogers Royals defeated the host Anoka Tornadoes 75-69 Friday evening.
Schreiber, 6-9 senior center, had 17 of his 21 points in the first half, which ended with the Royals down 36-33. He had foul trouble in the second half.
Cleveland, senior guard, scored 17 of his 23 points in the second half.
The Royals opened a 10-point lead, saw it dwindle to two, then pulled hung one to win despite shaky free throw shooting (15-for-28).
Josh Turnquist added 12 points and Austin Barbeln 10 for the Royals (2-1).
Senior guard Marcus Tyus poured in 30 points for Anoka (2-2).
Rogers will host Totino-Grace on Tuesday.
