Genealogy program planned at history center

The perfect time to sit down and collect new information for family histories is during the month of December.  With the entire family gathered in one spot, the memories stir and the stories come out.  It is the ideal time to collect oral histories to add to family history research.

The staff at the Sherburne History Center in Becker wants to provide some advice to help family genealogists gather family stories.  A two-hour discussion on “Using Oral History in Family History Research” will be presented on Saturday, Dec. 17 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  Mike Brubaker will offer some suggestions and advice for individuals interested in collecting oral history and using them in their family history research.
In addition to serving as executive director at the Sherburne History Center, Brubaker has been teaching genealogy courses for a number of years.  At the Sherburne History Center, the programs are a continuing feature of monthly programs concerning genealogy and local history.
All of the genealogy programs are free and open to the public.  For more information contact the Sherburne History Center at 763-262-4433.
