Soccer: Elks’ Ness, Royals’ Bianchi named to all-state
Ryan Ness of Elk River and Jessica Bianchi of Rogers were included on the all-state soccer teams picked by the coaches association. Both are senior midfielders who’ve been on varsity for five years and played in two state tournaments each.
Ness, named all-state for the second time, had six goals and eight assists this year for the
9-9 Elks. He is ERHS’s career points leader (60) with 29 goals and 31 assists. Also a basketball and tennis player, he plans to play soccer in college and is undecided where.
Bianchi notched 10 goals and seven assists for the 8-7-2 Royals, on the heels of 26-goal junior season when Rogers was state champion. She will continue her career at Concordia-St. Paul.
Each was named to the 24-member Class AA all-state team. The coaches also pick 24-player Class A teams.
