Elk River store donates pet food

Chuck & Don’s Pet Food Outlet in Elk River has donated 39 pounds of pet food to Second Harvest Heartland as part of the store’s Grateful and Giving Back event held Friday, Nov. 25.
Chuck & Don’s donated one pound of pet food to Second Harvest Heartland for every guest who visited Chuck & Don’s from 7-9 a.m. Black Friday, and two pounds of pet food for every shopper who attended with their pet.
Based in Mahtomedi, Chuck & Don’s has 17 stores in the Twin Cities. As part of the Black Friday promotion, the company donated a grand total of 755 pounds of pet food to Second Harvest Heartland and an additional 100 pounds to the Red Wing Area Food Shelf.
Meanwhile, Chuck & Don’s has also launched its 7th annual Paw Prints campaign which runs through Dec. 31. Customers will have the opportunity to buy a $1 paw print which raises funds for Red Lakes Rosie’s Rescue, Minnesota Humane Society and St. Francis of Assisi Animal Rescue. Last year, Chuck & Don’s customers raised $36,320 and the pet food supplier matched 25 percent of the donations for a total of $45,400.
