Zim-City ready to celebrate

Zimmerman’s Celebrate the Season event will light up town Saturday, Dec. 3 with many area businesses participating.
The festivities will kick off at 9:30 a.m. with Art Reflections’ Professional Photos with Santa that runs until 2 p.m.
Other highlighted activities include Reading Frenzy BookShop’s writing contests and crafts with children’s authors present from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., free ornament-making for kids (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and World Scramble and Scavenger Hunt (with $200 prize) at Nelson Nursery from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., horse-drawn sleigh rides from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Johnson’s Hardware Hank, open house and Neighbors Helping Neighbors toy drop at Zimmerman/Livonia fire station from 1 to 3 p.m., and wine tasting at P&A Liquor from 4 to 8 p.m.
Visit the following businesses to have a chance to register to win a flat screen TV, an overnight stay at the AmericInn, or an overnight stay and dinner buffet at Grand Casino Mille Lacs:

Many activities will be taking place in the basement of the American Legion from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., including holiday boutique and cookie decorating, free massages by AJ Linn Chiropractic, nerve scans and balloons by Nelson Chiropractic, and Scentsy samples by Scentsy consultant Sarah Ries. Face painting will also be available by American Family Insurance from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
At 4:30 p.m., the tree-lighting ceremony will take place at the corner of Second Street and Fremont Avenue in downtown Zimmerman with a bonfire. Santa will arrive on a fire truck. Treats and hot cocoa will be provided. All drawings and contest winners will be announced at the tree-lighting and winners must be present to accept their prizes.
