Hockey: Elk boys tip Champlin Park 2-1 in opener

The Elk River-Zimmerman skaters won their season opener 2-1 over Champlin Park on Saturday evening at home.

Andrew Zerban and Ryan Heid notched the goals for the Elks, who  outshot the visitors 47-28.

Anders Franke, Zimmerman senior starting his fourth season in goal, made 27 saves.

The Elks will  play at Robbinsdale Armstrong on Thursday evening.
