VA Clinic arrives — finally — in Ramsey
Veterans gathered in neighboring for a different type of Veterans Day celebration Nov. 11, which was not just an acknowledgment of past service.
It was a celebration for the future service the new Ramsey Veterans Administration (VA) Outpatient Clinic will be giving them.
The clinic, which opened this week, was dedicated Nov. 11 with veterans and their supporters crowding into The Fountains Event Center to hear VA officials and U.S. Sens. Al Franken and Amy Klobuchar speak.
“You overwhelmed us with your presences,” said Minneapolis VA Health Care System Director Steve Kleinglass welcoming the audience.
Veterans fought “for us and have given us our freedoms and the treasures we enjoy as … Americans.”
Today is in a small part a thank you for what veterans have done for America, Kleinglass said.
The opening of the 20,000-square-foot clinic has been long-awaited, said Ramsey Mayor Bob Ramsey, who is a veteran of the Gulf War and a former member of the U.S. Army and National Guard.
