Elk River golfer Sadie Martin will be the third member of her family to play in college. She signed with Augustana College of South Dakota last week.
Martin has helped the Elks win three straight conference championships. She had an impressive junior season, placing eighth in the state meet with 82-77-159 after placing first in both the conference and section meets.
She plans to major in biology.
Her sister Anne played for Mankato, the Gophers and Concordia-St. Paul, and her sister Molly played for North Dakota.
Augustana, coached by Peggy Kirby, has won two straight conference titles (NSIC).
“I think Sadie Martin will be a huge asset to our Augustana women’s golf program,” stated Kirby in an e-mail to the Star News. “She comes from an avid golfing family, all who love to compete, and she has a great competitive spirit.
Kirby added that she likes Martin’s consistency and work ethic in golf and the classroom.
“We look forward to the opportunity to coach such a talented young player and the opportunities for her at Augustana will provide for a great college golf experience.”
