Cultural liaison makes history

Liz Blanke, a cultural liaison in the Elk River Area School District who currently serves five elementary schools, recently became the first person to check out more 1,000 items from the Northwest Suburban Integration School District Multicultural Resource Center. Blanke, on the left, next to Ayenna Davis, NWSISD’s multicultural education specialist, checked items ranging from artifacts, books and videos over a six-year period while building her program of cultural awareness. On the table in front of her and Davis is a Hmong cultural kit she has used to teach.
