The former Godfather’s building is getting a new look with Boondox Bar and Grille moving into Otsego.
Dion and Dawn Grover have lived in the Otsego area for 20 years, raising two daughters, Samantha and Sydney.
After their previous employer closed its doors in Rogers recently, they’ve decided to follow their dream.
That dream was to open a restaurant of their own. With Dawn having over 20 years’ experience in the restaurant industry, they thought a restaurant of their own would be the perfect fit into their lives.
Their goal is to provide the community with a place for people to hang out, feel safe and comfortable while enjoying an affordable meal. They will offer volleyball and broomball to increase activity and get people out and moving. Boondox Bar and Grille will also have patio seating with fire pits and bean bag toss activities as well.
They selected the former Godfather’s building because it was in the community that they want to help grow.
“We don’t want to see any more vacant buildings,” said Dawn.
Appetizers, burgers, their special version of a Juicy Lucy, wings with over 10 sauce selections, pizza and sandwiches are some of what their menu has to offer.
“We like to keep it simple,” Dawn said. “We want to add to the community and draw more business into the area.”
Nearby residents have voiced their concerns regarding issues such as safety and noise levels regarding their outdoor recreation.
“We want families to relax and feel safe,” said Dawn. “Our 16-year-old daughter is going to work here and we wouldn’t want her to work in an unsafe environment. We welcome the community to approach us with their concerns.”
Boondox Bar and Grille is set to open before the end of the year, although no specific date has been set.
